Salisbury Steak - Tex Mex Way

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground round
  • 1/2 lb pork sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup fine dry breadcrumb
  • 1/4 cup mild salsa
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 (2 2/3 ounce) package country gravy mix
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained

Directions

  • 1 Combine first 7 ingredients and 1 tbsp cilantro. Shape mixture into 6 (1/3-inch thick) patties.
  • 2 Heat a lightly greased large nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
  • 3 Add patties, reduce heat to low, cover and cook 8-10 minutes per side or until center is no longer pink.
  • 4 Remove from skillet, wipe pan clean.
  • 5 Whisk together gravy mix, broth, tomatoes with chiles and remaining 1 tbsp cilantro.
  • 6 Cook over medium heat 1 minute or until thickened.
  • 7 Return patties to skillet and cook, until thoroughly heated.
